“Is there any rule banning White House staffers from having their own personal Twitter account? Not to my knowledge. If not, could you point me to a few? I have an account that I follow on my personal blackberry but I don’t actually twitter myself. It’s more to keep track of what Diddy and Perez Hilton are up to all day.”
“Bill Burton,” my butt. That’s Doctor J. FIRST P0ST IN THE WHITE HIZZOUSE, BEYOTCHES. Do not, repeat, not, under any circumstances, mess with Texas.
hehe, if only. But no, one main difference is that I’m mad and these guys aren’t, which makes me even madder. Somebody needs to grow a pair and start digging up incriminating pictures or something, get this health care thing happening. Bust some balls LBJ style, speaking of Texas. For all his faults, LBJ still got the civil rights thing through, even though he noted that it would lose them the South for a generation (and it did). But he knew it was the right thing to do, and he knew how to play rough in the political sense to make it happen. This isn’t a goddamn popularity contest, geez. At least sic Rahm on ‘em or something.
A member of my DJ crew went to the ER for his gigantic swollen thumb this week. “Yep, it’s infected” said they, antibiotics were prescribed, and a $325 bill for a five minute consultation was proffered. Hey guess who’s gonna pay for that? (hint: not him, he’s broke)
aaaand that’s as political as we ever hope to have to get in this blog. But right now it just looks like they’re gonna half-ass this thing so as not to disturb the cash flow, and that’s just gonna make things worse in this country, where people seem to have forgotten that we are all in this together…
(More to the topic, I did catch the premiere of Diddy’s show about putting together his “Last Train to Paris” band. Was disappointed that he didn’t do Dallas auditions; I would have enjoyed the opportunity to try out, and besides it’s a law somewhere that all reality shows are required to have auditions in Dallas)
I Can Make You Say - Twista (produced by Kanye West)
It’s a Kanye and Twista summer again! This one leaked a few weeks ago; it’s a nice nod to Prince both musically and lyrically; who else could work “purifying yourself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka” so deftly into their rhymes, after all?
This tune is nowhere to be found on Twista’s new album (Category 5)…of course Prince wasn’t gonna let something like that be released, but the other Kanye track (along with some other strong cuts) didn’t make it either. It’s his best release since Kamikaze, but a few of the tunes seem so musically calculated toward optimal radio play that it’s a bit distracting, although the album does benefit from the involvement of Chitown area old school hitters like Legendary Traxter and Do or Die…some of those tracks definitely have some staying power.
I always liked Twista’s stuff like this the best, the R&B sample tinged loverman raps about hitting it from the back and listening to Keith Sweat and Ready for the World while savoring the remaining fruits of our dwindling consumer culture. Maybe that’s just me. Anyway, really feeling this tune right now!
